After a difficult budget work session last night, the board discussed
the VREWP and say they will vote at a special called meeting on
Tuesday, May 21st. It seems they will support a 7% pay for 5% work as
this falls closest to the 1.1 million currently in the budget. They
did not support dropping people who are currently in the plan (our
task force had supported the 5 years max) so in order to include all
212 possible participants, they showed support for 7% over 10% pay
percentage...
Although they want it clear this is a program for one year and may not
be renewed yearly, they chose the 7% in order that current and 2013
retirees could stay on for the intended 7.
Not sure on the time of the meeting as there is a closed meeting also
scheduled. Will keep you all posted -thanks to Theresa who was helpful
at the meeting - not sure who else from our group was there but I know
all were there in spirit! See you Tuesday if you are able to attend.
